Short interview with our leading English teacher Walter
1. How old are you and where are from?
I’m 38 years old and from the Philippines.
2. Is English your native language? If not where and when did you learn it?
Philipino is my native language. However, I’ve learned to speak English through formal schooling since I was 6 years old. Combined with my knowledge in Accounting and Business Administration, I was able to use English as a very powerful tool in the business sphere.
3. When did you start teaching and why?
I started teaching in 2009. And since English is considered an international language, I saw the need of people to learn this language and give them the propensity to have better careers in the future.
4. When did your get your teaching diploma?
I received my teaching certificate in 2009.
5. How many students have you taught in general?
In my 5 years of teaching, I’ve taught more than 100 students and I’m glad to say that most of them are currently my students. I teach for an average of 5 to 6 hours a day .
6. What technics, methods, material do you use in your classes?
In general, I’ve always preferred a mixture of various teaching materials so as to avoid monotony and provide an additional spice in every lesson. These materials include, but not limited to, books, web links, and handouts.
However, it is wise to note that each lesson is flexible. Some specific topics or books are discussed as per request of the student.
7. Tell as much as you can about your experience(have you taught only in private way or groups as well, offline in any language schools or maybe some university as well and etc)
I’ve had the opportunity to handle one on one lessons in a private institution in the past. But thereafter, I decided to shift to online teaching as this enabled me to easily reach out to various nationalities and be given the opportunity to share my knowledge to those in need.
